Peace-Farms-Canada
Peace-Farms-Canada encompasses the farming operation of Golden Acres Grains Inc. (GAGI) in the Central Peace Region of Alberta in Canada. GAGI farms 2,500 acres, 1,000 hectares, and currently grows Malt Barley and Oil Seed Canola crops in a One-Pass-Direct-Seeding (Planting) system using herbicides for weed management, straight cut combines for harvesting, trucks for trucking barley and canola, and Steel Grain Bins for storing the barley and canola crops. The main crops of the Peace Region are barley, canola, oats, peas, wheat, and grass seeds. The climate is temperate with one growing season from May to October of each year, temperatures range from 10 to 30 degrees Celsius and there are about 100 to130 consecutive frost free days during the growing season. The winters are generally cold and snow covered with the temperature occasionally dropping to forty degrees below zero.
